Jacksonville, FL

Working at PCC, our spring break is a long weekend over Easter - Friday to Monday. I decided to take a solo weekend vacation to Jacksonville, FL. This was the first time I ever went on a trip by myself. Definitely an experience and a lot of fun!
On Saturday, I went to this manuscript museum where I saw letters to/from Authur Doyle, pages from Captain Richard Scott’s logbook, and Egyptian carvings. The museum building used to be a old church.
After that, I went to the Kingsley Plantation. The first time I have ever been on a plantation. The plantation was by a bay which gave the original owners easy access to the Atlantic. It was set way back in these tropical woods making you feel like you were in a middle of the jungle.
Sunday, I went to St. Augustine (allegedly the oldest city in the US - I’m a New Mexican so I’m partial to believing Santa Fe is the oldest). This city has absolutely gorgeous architecture! I parked and just walked around town seeing a draw bridge, old university, and several churches.
Monday, on the way back into town, I stoped at the Florida State Capital building in Tallahassee. I even got to go to the 22nd floor! (My ears were popping on the elevator ride down.)
The best part was staying at the beautiful Sawgrass Marriott Resort hotel (which I highly recommend to anyone heading to Jax). I bordered right up agains the famous TPC Sawgrass golf course where they hold many pro golf tournaments.
